Personal data collected for booking purposes is stored by FerryScan so that it can be recalled and shared with ferry operators for making ferry reservations. Data transfer may happen in real-time, or with some delay.

  • The user's Internet service provider
  • The IP address of the user
  • Date and time of access
  • Websites from which the user's system reaches our website
  • Websites accessed by the user's system through our website

4. The recipients or categories of recipients of the personal data

Payment providers

When you book on FerryScan, we may share your personal data with our payment provider, Stripe to better ensure your transaction will be promptly processed. Stripe is a data controllers and they use your data in accordance with their own privacy policies. If you are located in an EU or EEA country, your payment will be processed by “Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd.” If you contact FerryScan customer support, we may need to share information with Stripe to help you.

Travel Vendors

When you book on FerryScan, we may share your personal data with the travel vendor you booked your trip with that we have agreements with. This may include ferry companies, bus companies, and hotels. Each of these companies has their own data protection policy, you can read more about these and where to find them in our Booking Terms. If you contact FerryScan customer support, we may need to share information with the relevant travel vendor to help you.

Authorities

We may need to share your personal data and information if required by law. Examples of these situations could be from subpoenas for information from a relevant court, court orders in a relevant jurisdiction to your booking, requests for information relating to legal processes, criminal investigations, and government administrative inquiries. In addition to these examples, there could be many other reasons we could be legally required to share your personal data. We may also share your personal information if we have a dispute with you over or need to protect our rights.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics and share anonymous aggregated usage information automatically with Google for learning more about our users and improving the service. We do not collect more information than necessary to improve your experience.

5. How Long does FerryScan Keep Your Personal Data?

Personal data is stored by FerryScan only for the minimum amount of time that is required to comply with the compliance requirements of the legal jurisdictions in which we operate. Our business requires your data for a relatively short period of time, however your data must be stored for longer to comply with tax and other regulations as mandated by the territories in which we operate. We collect personal data only from you via the FerryScan website. No information is gathered on you from outside sources.
